Below are common questions that are asked about notarizations.
An acknowledgement is where a signer appears before a notary, identifies themself, and states that they signed the document voluntarily. The signer does not need to sign in front of the notary if the document has already been signed.
Unlike and acknowledgement, a Jurat is a notarial certificate that is used when an individual needs to make a sworn statement or an oath about the truthfulness and accuracy of the contents of a document much like an affidavit. When a notary administers a Jurat, they require the signer to verbally swear or affirm that the information in the document is accurate and true to the best of their knowledge. The jurat must be signed in the presence of the notary.
We can notarize a variety of documents, including affidavits, power of attorney, wills, deeds, real estate documents, copies of original documents such as passports, drivers license, and more.
